Ambassador Svend Olling has been the Ambassador to Bangladesh for the Kingdom of Denmark from 2010-2013. He received his Senior Managers in Government Executive Program in 2001, from Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
Ambassador Olling earned his position as the Head of Department COP15LOG at the Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2007. In his thirteen-year career graph, he served as Minister, Deputy Head of Mission at Royal Danish Embassy Berlin in 2005; Head of IT Department at Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2001 and First Secretary (Economic) at Royal Danish Embassy Washington D.C. in 2000.
He has also worked as Second Secretary (Political) for Royal Danish Embassy in 1998 in Washington D.C. He joined the Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (European Dept.) as Head of Section in 1995. Same year he was the Fellow of UN Secretariat, New York City (DESIPA). He had a flourishing career as the Head of Section at Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Consular Dept.) in 1994, Lecturer on Political Economy at Technical University of Denmark in 1993, Robert Schuman Fellow of European Parliament in Luxembourg in 1993, Stagiaire of European Commission (DG XVIII) in 1992 and in Danske Bank (arbitrage), Copenhagen in 1990.
In addition to his regal job, he became the Member of Rotary International in 2008. He achieved the Knight of the Royal Order of Dannebrog in 2007. He served as Chair of the Griffenfeld Group of Central Government CIO’s (2004-2005). Mr. Olling was in Alumni Board of Directors of Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, between 2003 to2006. He received Erling Kristiansen Award in 2001 and was awarded the Robert Schuman Scholarship in 1992. On 13th June 2013, the Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bangladesh (NCCI) bestowed Honorary Membership on Ambassador Svend Olling in recognition of his valuable contributions in the development of the Chamber.
