The Energy Efficiency Secretariat organized a workshop on ‘Perspective from the performers – Energy Auditors’ on May 26, 2015 at Hotel Lake Castle in Gulshan, Dhaka. The workshop was a part of the Energy Efficiency Engagement (3e) programme being implemented by the Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bangladesh (NCCI) and funded by Danida.
Leading energy auditors and energy service providers attended the workshop. The participants included BD Technology, SODEV Consult International Ltd., Adroit Environment Consultants Ltd., Deloitte, Future Carbon, Bangla Trac, Wellmake, PSL, eMcS, Haas Technologies, Proactive Engineering, Forbes Marshall etc.
NCCI aims to become a knowledge hub on energy efficient technologies which can assist in improving sustainable industrial operations while increasing profitability. The goal is also to increase awareness on energy efficiency among the business community in Bangladesh. Keeping that view in mind, the focus of the workshop was to explore various aspects of energy assessment in the private sectors. An in-depth discussion took place among the auditors, providing observations, suggestions, opinions and valuable guidance on how energy efficiency can be further improved in the various sectors and what are the benefits and challenges in this regard.
Noteworthy comments were received from the energy auditors on generating more interest and awareness among the industrialists for embracing energy efficiency, reporting format to motivate businesses for adopting energy efficiency measures, options for financial support from home and abroad, high energy consuming mechanisms and ways to minimize those were discussed with due importance.
Mr. Soren Robenhagen, Commercial Counsellor, Royal Danish Embassy in Bangladesh participated in the workshop as Guest of Honor. Mr. Stephan Skare Enevoldsen, Senior Adviser, DANIDA delivered a keynote presentation on the 3e programme.
